ORDERING A PAINTING OR DRAWING:
Please email clear photos of your home or specific view. They don’t have to be professional quality, just good enough to get the main view and important details. If you live in Metro New York, Greater Boston, Connecticut, Northern New Jersey or the Hudson Valley, arrangements can be made for David to stop by and personally photograph your house, building or business. He'll be glad to schedule a phone, email or video consultation to discuss your project.
PHOTOGRAPHIC GUIDELINES:
Albany, New York
If possible, take the photos on a day when there is some sunlight on the subject. Depending on how the house/building is facing, morning or late afternoon is the best time. Another option is to capture the house on an overcast day, when shadows are not as dark as on an extremely sunny day.
A slight left or right perspective is usually the most appealing angle. On occasion, straight on can be very dramatic. If you are unsure, send one of each. Try not to cut off any portions of the house. If trees are blocking the view, go up to where you can see the structure and shoot that portion.
Take some pictures of the details you especially like about your house; the front entrance, unique windows, porches, side facades, important landscape elements. Don't worry about power lines or other unattractive items, they will be eliminated in the painting.
Make any comment you wish when sending the pictures (i.e. - what to eliminate and/or what to add). If you send more than one main reference, indicate which one you like best.
Once the photos are received, David will contact you to discuss emphasis and details before beginning the artwork. He considers each portrait commission to be a collaborative project.
Upon completion of the artwork, David will email a proof before packing and shipping your custom painting or drawing.
